Rogue Point is a four-player tactical shooter from the devs behind Black Mesa
In a nutshell: Independent game studio Crowbar Collective has announced a new four-person, cooperative first-person shooter with a rogue-lite structure. Rogue Point revolves around the recent death of the world’s richest CEO, and the ensuing battle to capture his vacant kingdom. Cutthroat businessmen are hiring private mercenaries to win the corporate war but as a member of Rogue Point, all you want to do is see them fail.
Tactical combat and strategic planning is the name of the game as you do battle across four diverse (yet seemingly generic) maps: the airport, the office, the mall, and the oil rig. Repetition should not be too much of a concern thanks to the game’s parametric design system, which promises constantly evolving gameplay to make each mission feel unique and fresh. Crowbar Collective also mentions that enemies will have their own AI playstyle to pack a punch in their own unique way.
The game will launch with more than 20 weapons, 40+ attachments and tactical items, more than 60 cosmetic items including multiple skins, and 24 mission layouts across the aforementioned four locations. Crowbar Collective has not yet finalized system requirements although based on the gameplay footage shown in the teaser, cutting-edge hardware likely won’t be necessary.
Crowbar Collective is best known as the team behind Black Mesa, the third-party remake of Half-Life. That project began way back in 2005, eventually winning over Valve and finding its way to Steam.
Rogue Point is due out sometime in 2025 as an early access title. Crowbar said they learned from Black Mesa and other titles that the community can help generate ideas and find things that need to be fixed, hence why they are going the early access route.
The team anticipates the game spending about a year in this stage before graduating to a finished product. Pricing was not revealed, but we do know the game will be more expensive after early access so if you are interested, perhaps investing early on might be the best move.
